Our Story
How did we
get here?
Self Reliant Household started with a simple concern: too many families depend on systems they do not fully control. Food prices rise. Utilities fail. Supply chains slow down. Emergencies happen. And when they do, most people are left trying to figure things out in the moment.
This site was created to make household self-reliance feel practical, not extreme. The goal is not to scare people or pretend every home needs to become fully off-grid overnight. The goal is to help normal households take steady steps toward more control, more savings, and more confidence.
Here, we focus on the basics that matter most: growing food, storing water, preserving meals, preparing for power outages, reducing waste, and building simple systems that make a home more capable. Some projects are small. Some take planning. But every useful step adds up.
Self Reliant Household is built around learning, testing, researching, and sharing what works for everyday people. Whether you own a home, rent an apartment, have a backyard, or are just getting started, the mission is the same: grow more, store more, and rely less.
